I have always had my hands covered in paint, during every stage of my life - studying O and A level Art at school, dipping into a full palette of evening classes around the edges of my Marketing career and when I became a mum to my three gorgeous children, I began
juggling nappies with an art foundation course.
I realised that to keep my sanity, I needed to continue creating, and give my 'baby brain' a new challenge. I also knew that this was the perfect opportunity to reimagine my career,
to one that worked around the most important thing in my life, my family.
So I decided to jump completely into a very deep pot of paint - also known as a Fine Art Degree.
During my time at Uni I fell in love with oils and began an obsession with painting trees,
and the local parks where they live, which I feel so lucky to be
able to enjoy with my family, friends and dogs every single day.
I believe that these natural green and blue spaces have a positive physical and mental effect on us all, offering a free antidote to our fast-paced, technology-driven world.
My art is informed by the restorative colours of nature
and celebrates the essence of the paint itself.
I aim to create a depth to my landscapes,
often by creating a focal point in the distance;
leading you into a place filled with familiarity and contentment.
Since graduating, Karina has been selling her work in group shows and art award exhibitions, in addition to teaching oil painting, creating many private commissions and volunteering as a Curator for one of the largest group shows in Perth. Her work clearly shows her love for Perth's local parks, trees and beaches and those special holiday places 'Down South' that she often visits with her family and friends.
