Just Bloom

Inspired by the colour and beauty I find along the Cape to Cape Track in WA’s South West, Just Bloom is a celebration of wildflowers — and a little reminder to be more like them.

A flower doesn’t look around at the other flowers and wonder what they’re doing. It simply blooms, in its own way and in its own time. Perhaps we could do the same. Follow our own instincts, embrace what makes us happy and let ourselves flourish without worrying too much about what everyone else is doing.

Painted from memory, I build the surface through layers of organic marks, paint effects and pattern, allowing glimpses of colour and texture to emerge as the painting develops. A final layer of cold wax harmonises and protects the surface, giving it a soft, gentle glow.

Fixings attached for hanging on a wall or you can stand it on a table or shelf.
